Former New England Patriot Offensive Coordinator

Is Gone But Not Forgotten

New England Patriots fans remember him as the big, hulking offensive genius that roamed the sidelines for all of those memorable Sunday afternoons.  Resident's of Cumberland's Avalon Place remember him as a "regular Joe" taking out his trash.  Of course, the man in question is Charlie Weis, former coach and Cumberland resident.

After making news last spring that he was leaving his position with the New England Patriots and moving on to be the head coach of the storied Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, Mr. Weis's stunning home in Cumberland was put on the selling block.  Of course Charlie is a big guy, and so was his home.  Nearly 5,000 square feet of luxury surrounded Charlie and  his family, with cathedral ceilings, four bedrooms, three baths, and yes, probably a screening room in the spacious lower level.  Charlie not only drew up impeccable football plays, but he kept an equally impeccable home.  Meticulously landscaped grounds surrounded his bistro-styled patio and heated pool.  Charlie had one of the nicest home in a

prenmier neighborhood in Cumberland.

Lila Delman Real Estate, who represented the Weis' had scores of people that wanted to tour the house because of Charlie's celebrity status, but according to Barbara Samra, Delman's agent "we have to not only protect our clients from sightseers, but we are responsible to bring in only qualified buyers."  Delman's experience of selling some of the most luxurious homes in the area certainly paid off for the Weis's.  The rambling home didn't last long on the market, and sold in a matter of weeks.  According to John Hodnett, Delman's President, "Homes like this, in this area, generate plenty of interest because of the influx of Boston area residents who are looking for affordable luxury homes in a more relaxed setting.  Certainly the notoreity of the owner helped generate more interest."

Cumberland was a perfect location for Charlie considering his "office" was a short drive up Route 95.  Charlie has gone on to greener pastures, but the home on Avalon Place will always be referred to as the place where "Charlie Weis" performed miracles for the Patriots.
